TOOLBOX: A Finnish German Art Space TOOLBOX is an independent cooperative project of artists, organizing exhibitions to advance international exchange in respect to contemporary art and artistic positions. Openings are every last Friday of the month; the exhibitions present contemporary art in its manifold forms. The artist members of TOOLBOX conceive art as a tool for reflecting on the present age and art as having an impact on or even creating the social world. TOOLBOX has its focus on showing Finnish contemporary art in Berlin and presenting juxtapositions of Finnish next to German artistic views on relevant topics like, for example, ideologies, limits of perception, the significance of emotions, philosophical or political theory or human patterns of making world intelligible. TOOLBOX is a member of Kolonie Wedding, an association of about 30 art project spaces in Soldiner Kiez in Berlin-Wedding. On every last Friday of the month project spaces jointly open their doors for visitors. Information about openings and guided tours to the art spaces you can find here: www.koloniewedding.de Information in German & Finnish: https://www.galerietoolbox.com/about/

6x6 project is an artist-run online platform dedicated to the distribution and promotion of artists’ works in digital form. Founded by artist Mirelle Borra in 2017, 6x6 project is engaged in building an international community of artists. 6x6 project draws inspiration from the alternative art space movement of the 1970s in New York by utilizing the ‘artists-selecting-artists’ model—six artists, each selecting another artist for inclusion on the platform, every six weeks. 6x6 project offers a more multifaceted approach for the audience to discover the multiplicity of artists’ film and moving image practices. We are particularly interested in artistic practices with an emphasis on critical perspectives. Our aim is to disseminate artists’ moving image works to reach a worldwide audience and to foster an ongoing dialogue. Centrum is a contemporary art space in the Flughafenkiez district of Neukölln, Berlin. Formerly used as a retail store and brothel, Centrum’s exhibition space is not a white cube, but owes its specific character to its tiled floor composed of red ceramic and grey stone tiles, and from the large shop window looking out into the street. Centrum offers a platform for the discourses in and around contemporary art as well as the opportunity to meet artists through artist talks, lectures, and film screenings. We work with international and locally based artists, offering space and support for experimentation and for the development of new work. Centrum was founded in 2009 by Kate Squires and David Moynihan and since September 2014 is currently run by Mareike Spendel; since March 2015 supported by Natalie Weiland. In September 2016 the team was joined by Aurica Kastner.
