10dence platform Get out of your skull 2.0 is a collaborative art project with the participation of an international selected group of 64 artists. All the participating artists will receive a real size skull to work with in whatever way he or she sees fit. All these modified, pimped and altered skulls will be collectively exhibited from August 2024, within various showcases in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. The project will enjoy an extensive promotional presentation on our own and various affiliated websites, social media and a variety of affiliated art magazines and art platforms.
The 10dence platform Get out of your skull project initially has been developed during the coronavirus outbreak and the lockdowns that rapidly pushed the art world to make a transformative shift towards alternative stimulating initiatives. The project united a large group of artists during the Covid-19 pandemic with all its restrictions and problematic effects on their individual art practices as well as the international art-world. Aiming primarily on providing a positive vibe, to stimulate creative processes, to provide a psychological boost, to re-ignite a possibility to communicate and to network as well as to generate a bright light at the end of the corona tunnel during these darkened times.
The Get Out Of Your Skull project was presented to the public within venues at de Zilverhof exhibition space – Ghent – Belgium from 13 till 29 08 2021 – La Providence art centre – Ille sur Tet – France from 03 till 11 09 2021 & byBranderhorst – Dordrecht – the Netherlands from 15-10 till 7-11 2021. The Get Out of Your skull art project enjoyed and welcomed the warm support of High Art Fridays (HAF) art platform and curator Ron Shelton, Art Wall and editor/curator Laszlo Ladany, Inspirational Magazine and editor John Hopper, Global Art Project (GAP) and Carl Heyward, the municipality of Ghent, Belgium, La Providence Art Center – France with curator/coordinator Dimitri Xato and Christine Campadieu and byBranderhorst design store and Jolanda Branderhorst.
The 10dence platform Get out of your skull 2.0 will revive this wonderful project and showcase 64 skulls within various venues within the Netherlands and in Belgium. First venue will take place at de Zilverhof in the City of Ghent in Belgium May 03 till 19 2024. The second venue will take place at ArtSpace at Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam from July 1 till 5 2024, venue number 3 will take place at de CultuurHoek in Driebergen – NL from Juli 08 till 17 2024 and the last venue will take place during Halloween from October 12 till November 3 2024 at byBranderhorst in Dordrecht in the Netherlands.
How to proceed… all artists that feel inspired to participate within this project are kindly invited to submit their portfolio, including 10 images of recent work plus a CV and artist statement as a pdf file to our email address for review ([email protected]) and please state the Open Call name as well as your name within the subject bar. Closing date for submissions will be March 31 2023. We will take our time to review and let you all know the outcome by April 30 2023 and present a shortlist of selected participants on our website and on social media. Additional and more specific information on our procedures will be transferred to the selected artists. We can’t wait to review your portfolio…
All the submitted skulls will be showcased in a uniform manner. There are no restrictions or limitations in regards to what a participating artist is allowed to do with the skull provided, as long as the original size of the skull will remain and the ability to present and display the submitted skulls in a for all submissions universal manner and not exceeding a total size 33x33x33 cm. In order to get a clear idea on how this will work, we will attach an impression from previous venues. Any type of differentiation on this ruling principle should be previously discussed and will only be accepted upon approval by the organization.
There will be a participation fee in place to cover organization, administration, submission of one life size skull, packaging & shipping expenses of the skull to the selected artists, promotional costs, production of promotional material, venue rentals, display material, transport in between venues and all the work that has to be done. After notification of acceptance and subsequently the receiving of the participation fee from the artist, 10dence platform will ship out the skull for creative processing by mail directly to these accepted participants.
All submitted skulls will remain the property of the individual artists. All submitted skulls will be offered for sale during their display within the virtual presentation as well as within the various venues. Any skull purchased, will be delivered to the buyer ‘after’ finalizing the by 10dence platform organized venues.
