Art Studios

  AADK Spain is an artist-run platform that develops spaces for research and contemporary creation. With a focus set on experimental processes, its primary interest is to explore the notions of body, territory, and spatiality. The platform advocates the decentralization of culture and access to contemporary art in non-urban areas. It addresses local issues as means to understand global problems. Currently based in Centro Negra (Blanca, Murcia) it holds several programs among which its Artist Residency and Cruce Programs stand out. As a team, we believe that all artists we host are an active part of our platform. Therefore, we foster networks with other cultural and artistic enterprises, helping to promote their mobility on national and international circuits.

Overview:  The Living Gallery Outpost’s mission is to support emerging artists by creating new and exciting opportunities for them to showcase their work.  In line with that goal, we are excited to announce our 2018 Residency Program, which will coincide with The Armory Week.  One artist will be selected to use the gallery as their studio for one week.  The residency will culminate in an exhibition on the opening day of the Armory Show, March 8, 2018 and a panel of art-world professionals who will provide feedback to the artist on their work and their practice. The Living Gallery Outpost opened in August 2017 and has been featured in Paper Magazine and Time Out NY.  The Outpost is a sister gallery to The Living Gallery in Brooklyn, which has been covered in the NY Times, The Village Voice, and USA Today. Paper toys, máscaras  y productos de papel para creativos y futuros genios Somos diseñadores gráficos egresados en el año 2004, período de progresivo desarrollo de los medios digitales y justo al borde de la explosión e instalación de Internet como medio de comunicación masiva. Durante nuestra formación académica aprendimos muchísimo sobre los medios impresos y con el avanzar del tiempo nos adaptamos rápida y fácilmente a las nuevas tecnologías. En exposiciones, eventos y talleres relacionados con nuestra profesión y junto con el desarrollo artístico nos fuimos familiarizando con el hecho de que a través de internet se estaba compartiendo información entre artistas y profesionales gráficos, en la que se ponían en formato digital plantillas para ser intervenidas por ilustradores y devueltas vía internet, para ser descargadas e impresas en casa u oficinas de diseñadores. En otras palabras, conocimos prontamente los llamados “paper toys, tan famosos hoy en día. Our mission is to increase the number and range of people experiencing the arts through access and participation and to further opportunities for artists and the local community across a broad range of art forms that will enrich, educate and provide enjoyment. Located in a warehouse in Marrickville we have a gallery, six artist studios, and an atelier space where access and participation is provided to the local community through tutored skills-based classes and untutored arts groups. Scratch Art Space is an artist initiative founded and managed by Artist Carmel Byrne.

The Luminary is a nonprofit independent space founded in St. Louis, MO in 2007 as a forum for artistic research, production and presentation, conceived in response to both our immediate and international community, alongside our audiences, and in dialogue with artists. The Luminary is a constellation of ideas and activities: a physical site that opens onto a larger cultural and conceptual space; exhibitions that move through multiple timelines, spaces and forms; residencies with artists, curators and critics meant to test boundaries and continually push forward their individual and collective practice; and wide-ranging projects that critically engage emerging ideas and stretch the definition of the institution itself. The basis of the organization is experimentation and engagement. Emerging art and ideas are at the forefront of this experimentation, but only as they interact with people: art as an individual and communal experience; call and response; exchange and change; form and reform. Galleria Huuto is an artist run organization in Helsinki, Finland, active since 2002. It has more than 100 members and runs four gallery spaces in Jätkäsaari near the Western Harbour. Annually over 50 contemporary exhibitions are organized in Huuto´s premises. Huuto functions as a platform for solo and group exhibitions covering the broad range of styles and media of contemporary art, as well as space for international collaboration, non-commercial art, screenings, performance events as well as other artistic statements. Huuto is managed by a board and an executive director. Selection committee for exhibitions suggested for the gallery spaces is chosen from Huuto member artists and is changed every half a year.

Centrum is a contemporary art space in the Flughafenkiez district of Neukölln, Berlin. Formerly used as a retail store and brothel, Centrum’s exhibition space is not a white cube, but owes its specific character to its tiled floor composed of red ceramic and grey stone tiles, and from the large shop window looking out into the street. Centrum offers a platform for the discourses in and around contemporary art as well as the opportunity to meet artists through artist talks, lectures, and film screenings. We work with international and locally based artists, offering space and support for experimentation and for the development of new work. Centrum was founded in 2009 by Kate Squires and David Moynihan and since September 2014 is currently run by Mareike Spendel; since March 2015 supported by Natalie Weiland. In September 2016 the team was joined by Aurica Kastner.
