  Selected by Artslant Magazine as one of Berlin’s most interesting non-profit art spaces, SomoS finds meaning in a pragmatic innovative hybrid of art-presentation, production, education and reflection that engages with, and celebrates an ever-changing community; living and working together in a multi-generational, multi-cultural setting. Organizing an Artist-in-Residency program and an ambitious exhibition and event schedule, SomoS closely works with artists, organizers and curators to realize their projects. SomoS’ mission is to create an international open framework for innovative arts and creative cooperation.  

Visual Artist Unit is a voluntary run, artist-led art collective. Set up in 2014 by 8 graduates from Gray’s School of Art (Aberdeen) and Duncan of Jordanstone (Dundee), VAU commits itself to the dual aims of supporting early-career artists based in Scotland and improving public engagement and access to contemporary art to wider public audiences. Graduate, early-career and emerging artists can join VAU’s Artist Membership programme, which aims to provide a wide-ranging support for artists to develop and sustain their practices in day to day life. VAU runs a yearly public engagement programme, hosting a range of exciting and innovative exhibitions, workshops, talks, commissions and events across Scotland which our members are invited to participate in for professional development experiences. These activities aim to build bridges between artists and the public, helping to improve access and engagement in contemporary art for all.

Vision, Mission, Mandate and Values ​​of Regart, Center for Contemporary Art Artists Vision Established in Lévis since 1986, the artist-run-centre Regart intends to ensure a dynamic presence in today’s visual art with audiences in Chaudière-Appalaches and Québec territories. Through original promotion and diffusion interventions, Regart works to develop and promote the practices of professional artists from the regional, national and international scenes, while maintaining privileged ties with the community. Mission On the artistic front, Regart is interested in the hybridization of forms of expression, the encounter and the mixture of practices. Thus, it encourages the merging of visual arts with other disciplines, or even other modes of apprehension of contemporary culture. By integrating this approach to hybridization, both in creative processes and in exhibition presentation contexts, Regart opens up to represent a diversity of perspectives that differ from the usual contextualities of diffusion. Nulobaz artist​ ​group has gathered and started to work in ​the ​recent year out of ​a​ growing need to have a space that allows freedom for creative, original, independent work. The group aims to create a rich and deep internal exchange that w​ill​ expand outwards; to become an active agency within the context ​of ​the gallery’s surrounding​ ​environment, the art world, as well as broader cultural spheres. The space will serve as a platform for solo exhibitions of the group members, group exhibition with different themes, guest artists and curators, video and performance nights, music shows, workshops, cultural events, and even a small gallery shop.

Studio Residencies at Con Artist Collective The residencies at Con Artist Collective are short-term curated 60-day studio stays culminating in a special week-long showcase gallery exhibition. They are either seasonal, or based upon a particular medium. Our jurors are often NYC creatives, art luminaries, past members, and friends and family of the collective that are up to exciting things in their respective fields. You’ll sit down with each juror from the cycle for exclusive feedback socials.   OKK/Raum29 is an atelier, experimental- and exhibition space, a mediating platform for dialogue which offers a place for a diverse range of art works in the frame of an „expanded art term“. OKK is an artist-run platform for cultural activism based in Berlin, Germany. Rather than supporting single artistic careers, the initiative aims at providing a basic structure for artists and locals to join an open network of topic-specific activities. OKK has been home to various participative, collaborative and socially engaged projects – in its neighbourhood in Berlin, Wedding, as well as in other parts of Germany and abroad. Regularly, we invite artists and cultural workers from different genres to present their works in exhibitions and artistic events. The interdisciplinarity of the projects is important to us. Neverland Artspace is an alternative space for a multinational network of artists and curators based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The artspace aims to spark your curiosity and provide a playground for learning through various media platforms that include exhibitions, workshops, talks, social arts and performing arts. Kulturhus Björkboda, nicknamed “KUBU”, is a multifunctional community venue in the middle of Kemiönsaari, opened in 2022. The 110-year-old school building houses contemporary art exhibitions program, a craft shop, a hall with a stage, a kitchen and a pop-up café as well as workshop, meeting, collaboration spaces and a studio-residency.

Our aim is to create dialectics between the collective and community through organising events, fairs, happenings and screenings. Our community is built from our excitement to foster expression and new ways of thinking. We invite artists of all disciplines to share in inclusive creative experiences that also provide powerful motivational energy, to create, to be yourself and to be reborn. “Gunk serves as the connected culturally conscious critical communicative cooperative co opt.” – Gunk member Gunk’s first creative collaboration was initiated in a repurposed derelict space, that was condemned to be destroyed. We worked alongside our sponsor Snailfish Independent Bookstore, local artists and active community members in transforming the space. The public exhibition titled ’57 Art Fair’ hosted: Snailfish’s curated selection of Books, as well as works from artists spanning Paintings, Drawings, Sculpture and Photographic prints. This exhibition set the foundation for Gunk as an active Artist Alliance.

Artistic Curiosities * Unexpected Wonders Wondercabinet is the project of interdisciplinary relational artists, Anne Weshinskey and Árni Gudmundsson (V4L Arts Collective). We specialize in the instigation and exhibition of artistic curiosities, and creating spaces where unexpected wonders can occur. We pave a pathway to enjoying contemporary art through activities that engage everyone—from locals to those passing by on their way to somewhere else. Anne and Arni began working together 15 years ago while living and working in separate countries (Turkey and Sweden), and in 2016 moved to West Virginia where the type of conceptual and relational (community collaborative) work we do was completely unheard of in this rural area. In order to rectify this situation, we took over the fire truck bay of an old volunteer fire company and turned it into an exhibition and production space and roadside attraction called Wayside Wondercabinet.  Located within the Between the Hills Community Center in Loudoun County, VA,  Wayside Wondercabinet has since become a locus of cultural projects created for, and in collaboration with, the local community.  Besides exhibiting artistic work and serving as a venue for various cultural projects,  “The Wayside” is home to a permanent collection of curiosities and artworks by local […]

Galerie la Vieille Poste opened in 2010 as the gallery/project space for Moorland Productions creative collaboration (Kenneth Hay & Seetha A). It is also a residency centre and the seat of the Larroque Arts Festival, which has welcomed over 500 international artists to exhibit, share ideas, develop new projects, meet or stay since 2010. Set in the heart of rural Occitanie, the valley is one of the oldest continuously inhabited regions of Europe with Neanderthal traces going back 400,000 years. Larroque village sits next to the ancient Grésigne forest, rich in flora and fauna as well as archeological sites from the Bronze Age to Gallo-Roman forts. The Festival which takes place every July, is documented on Instagram and maintains an Open Call  on the FaceBook page.  Residencies/visits are possible throughout the year.

Brown Mountain Diamond is an experimental artist-run art space in deep rural Ireland. We are homed in a small farm complex with farmhouse, outbuildings, barn, yards and fields. We supports diverse forms of art making, from visual to sound, through a series of projects, residencies and events. The project is founded, owned and operated by visual artist Carl Giffney. We are committed to the support of artists in the production of high quality progressive art works and offer residential studios and workshop spaces to artists free of charge for the realisation of ambitious artworks.

ArtNet Artist-Run Initiative, has been the occasion for the collaboration of individuals coming from and involved with the artistic community. On the occasion of the comparison between the artistic activity in cities of Northern Europe with that of Thessaloniki, we organised with the aim of adopting and developing models that will lead to the reduction of this gap. Project ArtNet is the necessary preparation and research that must be preceded before proceeding with larger scale actions. Project ArtNet is currently active on the following projects: Collection of data on the artistic activity of Thessaloniki. Recording and mapping of all artistic and hybrid artistic spaces of the city. Collection of this data through questionnaires addressed to the above spaces. Collection of data through questionnaires addressed to the artistic community. Search for funding sources and acquisition of know – how in terms of applying for, searching for and applying for funding from EU and other sources. Collecting experiences on successful and failed funding efforts. Free disclosure of research results and data via an online platform. Drogerie is located in Berliner Strasse 99, in the east of Braunschweig. It is an autonomous and independet platform which is mainly used as a studio for currently two artists. It also provides the opportunity for concerts, exhibitions, lectures, screenings and more.

Commenced in 2019, Read the Room is an expanded literary practice space that encourages experimental writing, both on and off the page. Co-directed by Melbourne based visual artist Carmen-S Keiso and writer Kat Capel, Read the Room functions as a liaising hub for various practitioners interested in pursuing the literary form, particularly those working on the fringe of the artistic industry. We host ongoing writing workshops, experimental lectures, exhibitions and reading events independently and in collaboration with other artist-bodies. We are dedicated to both challenging and fostering a community of expanded-literary-practice within Melbourne.
