“the looking glass” opens in Paris in October 2024 as a collective space for process-based experiments, and a gathering salon for 7 selected artists in Paris.

Created by the rabbit hole’s international collective, founded in New York in 2008, “the looking glass” is a small, intimate space, located in the heart of Paris for process-based experiments and research, salons; intimate performances and presentations.

In this 6 months format, 7 individuals – artists, academics, and researchers – from all disciplines will be selected to participate in this unique opportunity to dialogue, share and immerse in experimentations and creative processes.

The program will interrogate the subject “the art of remembering” as an extension of the larger international residency program, created in Naples, Italy in collaboration with Fondazione Morra in 2021. https://www.101010n.com/the-art-of-remembering-2021 and introduce the rabbit hole method™ to the group.

the rabbit hole method™ is a process of poetical inquiry that extracts and distills from contemporary artistic practises, philosophy, mysticism, mathematics and dance. It includes the teaching of Hazrat Inayat Khan, Farid Ud-Din Attar, Jorge Luis Borges, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Lewis Carroll, among others. https://www.101010n.com/therabbitholemethodinimages.

The open call invites artists, curators, writers, poets, researchers, performers, from all backgrounds to apply with a project idea that is linked to “the art of remembering.”

the looking glass” is a 6 month program comprised of 7 selected Paris based artists who will develop processes, ideas and possibly works, based on the theme “the art of remembering.”

PROGRAM ELEMENTS:

1 / ARTIST SALONS:

Intimate sessions specifically between the 7 artists to share processes and exchanges about their projects. 2 per month.

2 / ARTIST PRESENTATIONS:

Each artist is offered the space to present / perform / workshop their ideas to a wider audience of individuals from Paris’ artist community. 1-2 per month.

3 / PROCESS BASED EXPERIMENTS

Each artist can use the space to explore their processes through workshops, film, photography, performance, etc. 1 per month.

4/ 1 WORKSHOP

All artists will be offered 1 workshop created by the rabbit hole, designed as part of the rabbit hole method, to inspire the process of “remembering” for the group.

5/ FINAL PRESENTATION

Format to be determined by the group, in the looking glass, or one of our partner collaborators’ spaces.

“the looking glass” is a space for community, both as an actual experience in Paris, as well as online through the rabbit hole’s global network of artists, and partner institutions.
