Tziky Eisenberg & Vera Korman / A Double Exhibition

Curator: Nogah Davidson

30.11.2017-30.12.2017

On Thursday, November 30, 2017, a joint exhibition of artists Tziky Eisenberg and Vera Korman will open at Alfred – A Cooperative Institute for Arts and Culture under the title Despite the Times. Curated by Nogah Davidson, the exhibition will feature stills

photos and a video installation.

Tziky Eisenberg will present a series of photographs called “Sticks and Stones” – in which he playfully places objects in a manner that creates a blur between the mediums providing the photographs with sculptural and painterly aspects.

Vera Korman will present a video installation composed of many layers of photographic materials. Intensive editing of materials from the news, the Internet and her personal life is integrated into a performance and lip sync.

The two artists deal, each in his own way and medium, with the collecting and conjoining of materials. It is noticeable that for both artists the gathering of materials and playing with them are means of processing, organizing and mediating reality.

Elements of consumerism mix with politics, sex, death and daily life. The overflow of images in which we live is refined into a small fragment with which one can only play in order to hold on, to rise above all and to deal with life.

Tziky Eisenberg, born 1977, lives and works in Tel Aviv and Rehovot. Graduated from the Department of Photography at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in 2005 and currently is in MFA studies at the University of Haifa.

Vera Korman, born in 1976 in Colombia, lives and works in Tel Aviv. Graduate of MFA studies at the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam 2010, Gender and Philosophy studies in Tel Aviv University and art studies at the Midrasha and at Avni Institute.
