Meet the Jurors:

Seunghwui Koo – Artfinder.com’s Artist-of-the-month, 2017 Fall Resident

Seunghwui Koo creates her works drawing inspiration from the daily happenings and intricate moments of her life in NYC. Her work is a commentary on the lives of New Yorkers as she has witnessed. She was born in South Korea, where she first had the idea of combining the pig’s head and human body. The significance of the pig’s head lies in the different symbolic meanings from the Eastern and Western cultures. Good fortune (Eastern) and greed (Western), two very different connotations of the pig, are themes that are a part of her works. She uses resin, acrylic, plaster, clay, and mixed media to create her works. She is one of the artists in the Chashama organization in NYC.. For more information, visit https://kooseunghwui.com/

Adrian Bermeo – Visual Artist, 2017 Mixed Media Resident

Adrian L. Bermeo [ b.1989 ] is a Latin American contemporary artist living and working in his native home, New York City. With a layered process displaying organic forms, bold lines and heavy paint strokes, Bermeo’s language speaks through textures of color and planned compositions. Known for overlapping shapes and figures, some pieces may be interpreted as objects in daily life within the imagination of the artist himself. Illustrating methodically through subtle bursts of inspiration, his abstract expressionism embodies many elements in life he finds most electric. Morgan Lappin – Founder of Brooklyn Collage Collective

Morgan Lappin is a visual artist/musician/collector of the unusual, the sensual, and anything “magical”. Sometimes you can see him on his magic carpet hovering around Brooklyn, spreading love like butter on a hot southern biscuit.

When making collage pieces the images Morgan uses come strictly from old encyclopedias, and other older publications. He uses nothing more than a physical cut and paste/tape method with all his work. The goal of his work is to make the viewer think about the characters in relation to the situation and environment in which they are placed.

In December 2013 he put together a band of merry collage artists and thus the Brooklyn Collage Collective was born. For more information, visit
