FILE 2020 | Call for Entries Registrations are opened to the 21st edition of FILE – Electronic Language International Festival, from October 15, 2019 to January 14, 2020. Since 2000 FILE is a non-profit cultural organization that has been promoting exhibitions, workshops and gatherings that seek to investigate the appropriations of the technologic media in artistic accomplishments. With annual exhibitions in São, in addition to participations in national and international events, FILE is the biggest electronic art event in Latin America. AADK Spain Open Call Artist Residency 2020
AADK Spain invites all artists and researchers who wish to work on the topics of body, territory and spatiality to participate in its Artistic Residency Program. For this edition, priority will be given to those proposals that focus on an expanded concept of architecture. We propose to consider listening and modelling spaces, experimenting with ways of inhabiting and recovering the memory of places as possible lines of action. For those interested in working with the community of Blanca, please bear in mind that projects of less than two months will not be accepted. The ability of artists to establish respectful relationships with the inhabitants and to be willing to engage in trial-error processes will be fundamental for these proposals. Theoretical research projects of any scientific or humanistic discipline may be applied to this call, provided that they have the artistic practice as their object of study. Galleria Jänis Open Call for spring 2020, apply before 15th December 2019 Galleria Jänis is an independent and artist run gallery in Turku. Jänis is located in Jarrumiehenkatu 3, very close to the railway station in the centrum of Turku, Finland. Gallery space is a window of an old shop, which makes it accessible 24/7. Window is 2m wide and 3m tall and the space inside is 60 cm deep. Space is bordered on the inside to a wall 180cm wide and 170cm tall for hanging up works. There is a line for curtains in the ceiling (about in the middle of the space 30cm apart from the wall and the window) that can be used for lighter installations. Special arrangements are best to figure beforehand. Rent is 120€ / 4 weeks. We do not take commissions. CALL FOR ARTISTS – Summer 2020 – 1-month residency with stipend
Kingsbrae International Residence for the Arts (KIRA) will award eighteen artists with a one-month residency throughout the summertime in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, an idyllic seaside town on the east coast of Canada. KIRA’s Artist in Residence Program was founded in order to support the local community and artists by providing space and time to take their creative practice to the next level and to explore their ideas within the context of the region, including Kingsbrae Garden, a 27-acre horticultural masterpiece located just steps away from the residence. Applications are open to a range of disciplines and types of artists including, but not limited to, the visual arts, music/composition, new media and interdisciplinary arts. Artists from all levels in their career who exhibit a strong professional work ethic and a collaborative attitude are encouraged to apply. Brashnar Artist-in-Residence (BAiR) is an artist run and operated urban artist residency program located in the neighborhood Hrom on the west side of Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. BAiR is a multi-faceted residency program allowing resident artists the freedom to explore the potentials of their practice while experiencing Macedonian culture through group related activities. While residing at BAiR, residents live in an open, communal style environment situated in a family oriented neighborhood. During their residency, residents are encouraged to embrace the local culture and to engage the surrounding community while living at the Art House. A.I.R. NYC: Live-Work Space in Brooklyn Artists’ Community
Mothership NYC is a combined live-work space and presentation arena for international artists across multiple disciplines in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, NYC. Our converted industrial loft has three cabins for permanent crew members (all 30+ years-old female creatives) and two spaces for shorter-term visitors. As of December 2016, one of the short-term options is a PRIVATE LIVE-WORK SPACE for rotating Artists-in-Residence, which is available for periods from 1 to 3 months for $1550/month: a spacious, light-filled and high-ceilinged room divided into two separate sections. The living area has a loft bed, clothing rack, dresser, and a small sitting area. The studio has a desk, a large table, and empty walls to work on. There is an easel, too, as well as a great bike you get to use (please see images in second slide show at http://www.mothership.nyc/artist-residency/). CrossingBorders
This exhibition, curated by Carl Heyward and Ron Weijers begs the question: “What borders are you willing to cross?” An exhibition featuring works by Global Art Project artists, who have encountered this question many times in their work and their lives. CrossingBorders is a conceptual collaborative group exhibition project for art professionals affiliated with Global Art Project (GAP). The aim is on transferring the projects concept to the public and extending the participants professional international networks and art market. The CrossingBorders exhibition aims to bring together Global Art Project affiliated artists from all over the world, who are highly motivated to collaborate with each other across national borders with the ambition to enter each other’s markets artistically. The CrossingBorders exhibition has been curated by the American artist and founder of Global Art Project, Carl Heyward and the Dutch artist and curator Ron Weijers. The curators of the CrossingBorders exhibition, stimulate and expect a conceptual reflection on distances or barriers, included in the perceptual context of a border, a blocking in thinking, acceptance and/or understanding by means of political issues, globalization, immigration, climate change, gender, race, culture, religious racism, terrorism, genocide, war, misogynist behavior, feelings of fear or superiority etc.etc… In other words, the GAP artists reflect upon their own conceptions about what constitutes a border or boundary and what it means to cross it. The inaugural exhibition took place in Ghent, Belgium in July of 2019. QiPO Fair 02, Mexico City
QiPO Fair is an international contemporary art event organized by members of the QiPO curatorial collective in partnership with Reurbano during Art Fair Week in Mexico City. QiPO Fair 02, happening February 6-9, 2020, will feature proposal by alternative and artist-run spaces, and curatorial and artist collectives from Mexico and around the world. This event will again take place in uninhabited, repurposed spaces at the “Gaona”, an exquisite, Neocolonial building constructed during the Porfiriato period in Mexico City’s Historic Center situated within walking distance from notable galleries and major art events happening simultaneously. QiPO Fair is a multi-project exhibition conceived and designed to provide amplified exposure to the vibrant artist-run initiatives and independent projects from contemporary art cities around the world. Not so much a radical departure, we hope this showcase will provide an unconventional and refreshing context to the city’s more “official” events. The QiPO collective is a project of Fulcrum Arts’ Emerge fiscal sponsorship program.

Gregory J. Rose Jennifer Homer-Hynes Robert Reed This exhibition highlights the efforts of GAP members. GAP members are known for and really good at trading frags (fragments of found material) by collecting them, putting them in envelopes and mailing them to other members throughout the world. The GAP member on the receiving end will then create an original work using the frags received in the mail. There are over 60 artist members in GAP from 17 countries. On view in Gallerie Renee Marie beginning in December 2020 (exact dates and times TBA).
