PrintSpace is dedicated to the exploration and experimentation of printmaking techniques, rooted in the desire to build community around a press. It is a truly wonderful space to share ideas, purpose and process. For novice and experienced alike, PrintSpace is designed for small group workshops as well as private rental for press or studio time. First Fridays was established as a way to provide a fun and engaging opportunity using some of the printmaking techniques offered at PrintSpace. Bright Spot Sunday is another monthly program allowing participants a relaxed environment to learn about the beauty of monoprint/monotype while brightening up the day for others. At the end of the session, each participant will choose one print to leave behind. It will be adhered to a card and delivered to the Saint Nicholas Home for distribution to residents. Help create a Bright Spot! Drop in on the Sunday following a First Friday event between 12 – 3.

Helping artists gain exposure during art fairs, We show artists’ works on our Art Display outside art fairs. We hope to include as many artists as possible to help them gain exposure before the eyes of art collectors, art experts and art lovers attending the art fairs. Our display is placed feet away from the entrance to art fairs. ** We don’t take commissions on any sales generated by the art display. No works need to be shipped as images and artists’ name and Instagram contact is displayed along with images of works. There is a submission fee of $55 and a participation fee if selected. We want to offer an opportunity to all artists who may not be available or cannot travel to show their work, thus this is open to artists from around the world. This is also a good option for artists who cannot access the high fees and commission fees as well as shipping expenses that are associated with art fairs and art exhibits.

Microscope is a contemporary art gallery founded in 2010 by artists/curators Elle Burchill and Andrea Monti specializing in the works of risk-taking artists — from emerging to established — whose practice includes moving image, sound, performance, photography, and digital art. Alongside its exhibitions, Microscope presents a weekly series of events complementing and expanding the programming through screenings, sound, performance, readings and lectures. In such ways, Microscope has strived to address the long-existing divide in the reception, discussions around, and perceived value of works exhibited in the white box setting of the gallery space and of those shown in the black box of the screening/performance venue. The gallery was conceived as a place where artists working with time-based arts have the opportunity to have their works presented in either context according to their artistic intent. Microscope through its event series has also collaborated with institutions on exhibitions, screenings, performances, panels and other events including most notably “Dreamlands: Expanded” a series of 10 expanded cinema events in collaboration with the Whitney Museum of American Art as part of the exhibition “Dreamlands: Immersive Cinema & Art, 1905-2016”; “Process: To Each Their Own Image,” a screening of works at Centre Pompidou, Paris, France; and […]

Ortega y Gasset Projects (OyG) is a non-profit artist-run curatorial collective and exhibition space in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Founded in May 2013 in Bushwick, Brooklyn, OyG moved to Gowanus in February 2015. Ortega y Gasset is a non-profit organization run by a group of directors based in New York and other regions throughout the US. All directors are working artists and in addition to writing, curating, installing and doing administrative work to run OyG, their directorship enables them to connect with the community that OyG fosters to support their practices as painters, photographers, sculptors and writers. OyG is entirely run by working artists, and so recognizes that exploration is key to the sustainment of artistic vitality. Thus, we embark on an exploratory model where artists take the role of curator, critic and promoter. Working without specific intentions of commercial profit or an explicit curatorial ideology, the goal of OyG is to mount exhibitions that provoke interpretation and dialogue and bolster artistic community. In doing so, we participate within a wider forum to disseminate aesthetic experience in new ways and expand our roles, priorities and scope of influence within art culture. Half of the current co-directors of OyG live outside of New […]

Overview: The Living Gallery Outpost’s mission is to support emerging artists by creating new and exciting opportunities for them to showcase their work. In line with that goal, we are excited to announce our 2018 Residency Program, which will coincide with The Armory Week. One artist will be selected to use the gallery as their studio for one week. The residency will culminate in an exhibition on the opening day of the Armory Show, March 8, 2018 and a panel of art-world professionals who will provide feedback to the artist on their work and their practice. The Living Gallery Outpost opened in August 2017 and has been featured in Paper Magazine and Time Out NY. The Outpost is a sister gallery to The Living Gallery in Brooklyn, which has been covered in the NY Times, The Village Voice, and USA Today. The Outpost is situated in the heart of the East Village in Manhattan. As the space is a ground floor gallery with a large window facing the street, the selected artist must be comfortable with their studio being on display to the public and passersby. A group exhibition of semi-finalists in the 2018 Residency Program will be held […]
