The term “liminal” comes from the Latin word līmen, meaning “a threshold” and it stands for something relating to a transitional stage of a process.
Because of the current world situation, we are experiencing liminality as a collective, but also as individuals facing our private challenges and transformations. This constant need for adaptation creates opportunities for growth that could have never been imagined before. Once the threshold is crossed, there is no way back.
Marija Brasnic is using the gallery window as a liminal space to show her mixed media installation, made of a mirror and plexiglass panels. The whole surface, including the window, is covered with an abstract drawing that is ever-changing, depending on the viewer’s perspective.
The viewer is invited to constantly reexamine and adapt to what they see, including their reflection in the mirror.
