Now in its eighth consecutive year, Platforms Project is the international show that indicatively charts the art currently produced through collective initiatives by young artists on the international scene as they join forces to seek answers to contemporary artistic questions.
In recent weeks, the whole world has been experiencing the rapid developments around the COVID-19 pandemic. Platforms Project, taking seriously into account the events as they unfold globally, the difficulty for many of our exhibitors to travel to Athens and the need to safeguard the health of artists and visitors alike, has decided to postpone this year’s event. Evidently, this year we will not get together; but creativity and art does not stop, so we shall meet on the internet. Platforms Project establishes a new approach to art viewing via Platforms Project Net, a web-based art fair.
We stay at home but we continue to create and bring together the voices of the independent art scene, demonstrating the power of art and technology.
The Platforms Project Net will enable the art-loving public to access the artists’ groups and their works via a digital exhibition. Viewers can try a new experience by visiting the Platforms Project website for 15 days, from 14 to 31 May 2020.
A virtual plan view of the exhibition space shows the platforms installed in their digital stands. Viewers can click on a platform’s number and title and see the works presented by each artist in the group (video-art, painting, photography, installations, etc). They will also be able to watch online a rich and varied programme of lectures on contemporary art matters, in Greek and English, as well as the online performances and videos of the participating groups. Visitors to the new Platforms Project NET may engage in direct, real-time dialogue with the artists over the internet as part of the overall interactive experience.
Our open invitation on the web generated hundreds of applications from 27 countries, and the Platforms Project NET 2020 will be featuring 63 platforms from 20 countries (Greece, UK, Germany, Canada, USA, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, France, Panama, Finland, Indonesia, Turkey, Serbia, Russia, Cyprus, Italy, Hong Kong) and over 800 artists.

Platforms Project aims to serve as a hub of creation, a register of the avant-garde trends in art and a forum for promoting interaction among platforms. Over its eight years of operation, it has established a world network of independent art groups and spaces in direct communication with one another.
The project is managed by Artemis Potamianou and Michalis Argyrou. The Artistic Director of Platforms Project 2020 is Artemis Potamianou.
The schedule of lectures and events of the Platforms Project Net will be posted on www.platformsproject.com and its facebook page.
