“Instytut avtomatyky” – an initiative group that works as an experimental creative laboratory, avoiding mimetic means of expression in the field of modern art, concentrates on the concepts of experience, the use of non-typical materials, interaction with space and with found objects (ready-made). “Instytut avtomatyky” was founded on July 20, 2020 by artists Maksym Mazur and Andriy Pidlisny with the aim of promoting the development of a local creative center that arose spontaneously in the building of the Kyiv Institute of Automation at 22 Nahirna Street. The priorities of the group are the creation of artistic events, exhibition projects and the formation of international collaboration of artists on the basis of common values ​​in art. “Instytut avtomatyky” works outside a single permanent exhibition space and uses the method of collective curation with the involvement of project participants.  

School of Commons (SoC) is a community-based initiative dedicated to the study and development of self-organized knowledge. We promote a broad, integrative understanding of knowledge, and focus on matters surrounding the production and mediation of knowledge with a focus on self-organized practices and knowledge decentralization. Located at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), the content and position of SoC is defined by our community rather than a predetermined program; research is conducted in our three labs (LEARN, MAPP, and READ), all of which are run as peer-based collaborative endeavours with annually changing members. Our labs bring together a wide range of participants, guests, and contributors who share their curiosity, skills, and visions. Studio Faire is an artist-run contemporary art space in South West France, providing residencies for Artists, Makers, Writers, Musicians and all other creative practitioners. Studio Faire offers a change of pace and the space to create.

StoneZone: A meeting point for art professionals working with granite, or stone in general. StoneZone is located at the Westcoast of Sweden, in the centre of the Bohusgranite area. In the spring of 2010 two close friends and collegues in sculpture, Lukas Arons and Tom Flick, were able to purchase an old stone industry in the forrests of Bohuslän at the Swedish westcoast. Since than this neglected and abandoned place has been transformed into a living artspace with temporary exhibitions, artiststudio, stoneworkshop and blacksmithy. StoneZone’s dream to be able to open ‘artist in residence places’ for sculptors and possibly other disciplines will soon become a reality.

EGEU is an independent cultural space in Lisbon first opened in September 2019. Born out of the urge to claim a space of fruitful freedom, one of its key intentions is to facilitate artistic, cultural and editorial initiatives without market-related concerns. Thus, since its foundation, EGEU has kept a multidisciplinary and active program, having organized exhibitions, performances, discussions, literary projects, residencies and screenings alongside emerging artists, writers and cultural agents. One of our major aims is to make sure that no one at EGEU is constrained by the outcome of their work. Rather than a product, we believe that artistic experiment and critique should be taken as parts of a process. If art and culture ought to be free, then they must not be limited to any pre-determined worthiness. So as artists. Slipvillan aims to involve the artists-in-residence in public interaction, initiating both aesthetic and philosophical conversations, and they welcome a variety of artistic positions. Artist-talk, presentation or exhibition will be encouraged in connection to the stay. Slipvillan is in collaboration with the artist-run gallery Studio 44, a central meeting place for the artist-run community of Stockholm, and a catalyst for numerous ideas and thoughts in the fields of visual arts. Slipvillan has 5 studios used for various cultural activities, exhibitions, talks, conferences as well as working space. Two of the studios are used by local artists on a permanent basis providing contacts and help to the AIR. The garden is used both as a recreation area and for outdoor work. Slipvillan has housed cultural activities since 2007. The AIR began in 2020 and is open to international artists, curators and speakers as a working place for periods of one to six months.

Onassis AiR, is an (inter)national artistic research residency program that was established by the Onassis Foundation in September 2019, in Athens, Greece. Founded on the principles of learning and doing with others, Onassis AiR grounds its mission in supporting the artistic process by offering space and time to arts professionals from various backgrounds and disciplines to delve deeper into their practice without any requirement to present a final work. Since we opened our doors in September 2019, we have experimented with various formats of thinking and practising together -from individual research programs to fostering a thematic collective research study– always adapting our programs based on the needs of a growing community of peers. RAMA – Art Residency is located in a rural landscape in Maceira and Alfeiria villages, municipality of Torres Vedras, in the west part of Portugal. Aimed at research and experimentation by national and international artists, researchers and curators, it promotes the interaction between professionals and the crossing of artistic practices, the sharing of experiences and knowledge, and relationship with the local community, culture, crafts and traditional knowledge, and with the region’s history and landscape. Artistic Residency last from 1 to 4 months. Residency program with mentorship and studio visits are customized to each project in a specialized and immersive working environment, with accommodation and studio, or with studio space only, can host up to 4 artists simultaneously, in each Residency period. RAMA is located at about 40 minutes driving from Lisbon’s center and from the airport, between the municipalities of Torres Vedras, Sobral de Monte Agraço, Arruda dos Vinhos and Alenquer, and it is served by highways, public transport, post office, commerce and services.

ABOUT THE RABBIT HOLE: Established in 2008 in New York, the rabbit hole numbers 5000+ individually hand-picked members from 56 + countries. The membership is by invitation only. The essence of the rabbit hole is rooted in deconstruction and the reinventions of discourses. Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence is an international art residency located near the comune of Sesto al Reghena in the north-eastern Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It’s a place for artistic production and research that focuses on the development of the creative process and facilitates cultural exchange across borders. The Pushkinskaya-10 is Russia’s oldest independent art centre founded in Leningrad in 1989. A former squat, created by nonconformist artists representing the alternative culture in the Soviet period, today it’s an exhibition space, a studio complex and a museum.

Laundromat Art Space is an artist-run studio and exhibition complex which focuses on the development of local artists and provides innovative curatorial opportunities and artistic programming for the community.

Future Utopia Community Key is an Artist in Residence (AiR) program. It is dedicated to the activities in the rural village of Uddebo and the area. FARM STUDIO ( International Artist Residency – India) FARM Studio International Artist Residency’s aim is to provide a rural, community-based open platform where creativity can unfold. Residents stay and create in a unique atmosphere and entirely new environment where they can develop their artwork free from accustomed distractions. Relationships form between the artists coming from different geographical locations and varied social, religious and cultural backgrounds. Here, collaborations and experimentation is encouraged. Many exciting exchanges and dialogues among artists take place. Farm Studio also promotes and celebrates the local community’s artistic and cultural identity while also introducing art and culture of others (Indian and International guests) back to the community. This intercultural exchange broadens everyone’s experiences and fosters art appreciation. Farm Studio International Artist Residency hosts artists from September to March each year, with accommodations available for up to 6-12 residents at one time. Artists of all disciplines creating in any media are welcome to apply: dance, theatre, music, sound, performance art, writing, painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, culinary, photography, video/film, animation, architecture, sculpture (any material), ceramics, mixed-media / multi-media, interdisciplinary, installation, and other new/alternative media. CRIPTA747 is a non-profit visual art organisation founded in Turin in 2008: it is a place for research, exchange and production where the artistic practices face the contemporary debate. Through a programme of exhibitions, screenings and events, CRIPTA747 investigates new forms and languages ​​with the aim of giving back to the audience an authentic and fresh vision. Since 2017, we have started two new programmes dedicated to international mobility: Residency, to support research with fellowships, and Studio, a project of shared work space with a focus on production.

STUDIO BAUSTELLE is an artist-run space for art, events and experiments in Neukölln, Berlin highlighting analogue and accessible media. We are a group of 5 artists Monika Berstis, Annsofie Jonsson, Janin Walter, Marija Brasnic, Felicia Scheuerecker ​  

BigCi is an independent, artist run, not for profit artist residency program focusing on artists’ professional development and facilitating their projects. BigCi has been established and run by Rae Bolotin, a practicing artist, and Yuri Bolotin, environmentalist and wilderness explorer. We are situated on the edge of Wollemi National Park within the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains, one of the world’s top biodiversity hotspots. Due to our location and the knowledge base of our team, many of our resident artists are particularly interested in projects that explore environmental or ecological issues, although many others use our outstanding natural surroundings as a source of creativity for a variety of different artistic pursuits. All residents have opportunities to take part in bushwalks conducted by Yuri Bolotin, an experienced mountain guide and author, and to learn first-hand about the unique biodiversity and geodiversity of the area.
