The mission of the FCA is to advance the knowledge and appreciation of art and culture to all Canadians, offering education, exhibition, and communication in the Visual Arts, and to support and promote emerging to professional member artists.

Space A is Kathmandu (Nepal) based non-governmental autonomous, non-political, non-profitable, and an Artist Initiative with the goal of establishing a stable platform for critical analysis, reflections, open discussions, information exchange, collaboration, and interactive communication. It aims at contributing to interdisciplinary contemporary art practices by setting up researches, discursive events, exhibitions, educational, and residency programs. Space A was formed in 2008 with the involvement of a Visual Artist, Interior Designer, Jewelry Designer, Musician, and writer to promote interdisciplinary art practice in Nepal. This unique diversity leads to lots of magnificent ideas. Kathmandu international artist-in-residence program (KIAR) is an initiative of Space A, a significant hub in the field of contemporary art both locally and internationally. The goal of the KIAR is to create an intellectual space where the residents will get the chance to penetrate the local cultural and socio-political contexts, as well as to combine their artistic practices (research, production, etc.) with meetings, lectures, and other discursive events with local and international artists, cultural experts, critics, and curators.

HyperCube is an artist-run project space that researches the innovative possibilities between alternative art spaces, and artists’ and scientists’ interactions with the in-situ/ex-situ. HyperCube is a non-profit experimental art space founded by artist, Özge Topçu and takes its purpose and identity from her practice. In her artwork, Ozge explores the relationship between the spatiality of space, science, and sociology. Hypercube is dedicated to curating and hosting projects that further understanding between the relationship of space, science, and sociology. As a non-profit organisation, HyperCube creates an open space for trans-disciplinary activity and aims to build institutional engagement with non-institutional actors such as local communities and students. HyperCube is open for project proposals from makers, thinkers, artists, and scientists. In additional to its regular call for curated projects, HyperCube welcomes and responds year round to open submissions. [email protected] Inspired by higher dimensional iterations of the cube, as well as the existing architectural structure of its location, the HyperCube space aims deconstruct the traditional notion of ‘the white cube’ and develop a hyper form of art space.  

b: ATELIER is located in the small regional town of Batlow near the southern Australian Alps. Batlow was severely impacted by the Black Summer Fires of 2020 & this ARI is one artist’s response to help her disaster affected town recover and renew itself in new and creative ways. Artist Robyn Veneer Sweeney is committed to encouraging locals and tourists to visit and support the output of the local arts community, through showing curated contemporary artworks and facilitating locals to engage with the arts through workshops both in-studio and through outreach. b: ATELIER running costs and improvements have been entirely funded by one artist with small donations of equipment by the local arts community. At this time, it is intended to stay an unincorporated NFP. The building has been made available rent free by the owner and patron, Potso. Some works are for sale but sales are not the core intention of the exhibitions. b: ATELIER charges small commissions for sales, the proceeds of which will go to cover running costs and improvements. EST art foundation’s purpose is to stimulate and explore new developments within concrete art. Space52 founded by the artist Dionisis Christofilogiannis in 2017 and supports Athens based artists and continuously seeks collaborations with art spaces and professionals from abroad. Our community and network grow by facilitating collaborations, exchanges and research-based project. Space52 serves as a hub for local and international creatives, intellectuals and theoreticians. Main focus of all our engagements is the current inquiries of our growing dynamic community. Space52 is the Athens incubator of ideas and experimentations.  

  The Foundry Art Centre is a dynamic community art center dedicated to the creation and presentation of contemporary visual arts. Our mission is to connect everyday people with the arts through our studio artists, educational classes, special events, and exhibitions. Featuring a state-of-the-art gallery space, the Foundry hosts national and international juried fine art exhibitions and curated traveling exhibitions.

  Love’s Remedies is an initiative by artists BRD (Bridget Rosalia Driessen) and Hannah Kim Varamini. Started in 2018, Love’s Remedies uses the artists’ collective interest in care and attention as media, and invites other artists to utilize them and their resources for their own benefit. For their inhabitance at ArtCenter DTLA through 2020, Love’s Remedies continues to investigate the relations between friendship and artist networks, professional practices and expansive action.

During Soviet times, arts and culture were promoted, financed and used by the state and the communist party as an instrument to underpin the state, their party values and ideology. Cultural content had to align with ideological propaganda and be broadly understood by the general public. It also had to instill into people a feeling of being a part of the USSR family alongside its objectives and achievements. With the collapse of the Soviet Union and the concomitant economic dip and scarcity of state resources in the newly independent Kyrgyz Republic, the arts and culture community and Kyrgyz Union of Artists not only lost its financing but more importantly its role in society and the state. Twenty years after independence, like other newly independent states, the multi-ethnic Kyrgyz Republic is still struggling with a new national identity appealing to all constituent parts of the country.   As the longest-running ARI in Perth, Paper Mountain is a highly reconfigurable studio collective and gallery with co-working and event spaces. Constantly evolving, our core ethos aligns with queer, decolonialist, anti-patriarchal, and anti-ableist ideas and working methods. Our priority is supporting underrepresented and courageous new voices, for learning as we go and adapting to the realities of a damaged world by generating experimental structures and creative solutions. We welcome artists, community groups, organizers, and workers in other disciplines.

  From 2010, W is the collective of artists and the art studio dedicated to working, meeting, research, experimentation and diffusion of contemporary art. Artists from different plastic backgrounds (sculpture, painting, video, photo, performance) shared their desires and the values to create a place for work, exchange of ideas and diffusion of contemporary art. On two floors, we have from the outset dedicated the first floor of 110m2 to artistic practice and the ground floor of 80m2 to exhibitions, projects and monthly events. Beyond our individual practices, this space welcomes artists from all horizons and geographies, rich exchanges and meetings without partitioning between the actors of the project (artists, children, neighbors, musicians, craftsmen, artists…).    

  LA PARED promotes contemporary art and artists. We want contemporary art to play as impacting a role on civil society as possible. We currently focus on the connection we have created between Mexico and Colombia. We have a gallery space, studio spaces and residential accommodations in both countries. In our first year in Colombia we won both a federal government grant and a municipal grant towards the execution of our residency and graphic arts programs.  

  The Concern Newsstand has such a name because of a concern that the world is falling to distracted mindlessness and that we’re all reading from physical, paper objects less and less. A ‘concern’ is also the name of a ‘business’. The Chapel Hill / Carrboro, NC area no longer has m/any used book or magazine stores. The Newsstand is offering this service to the community. It is also a venue for local artists & artists from beyond to sell their printed materials & limited edition products. Housed in a gallery & among artist studios, it is a meeting spot & hang out place. The curated focus is to expand one’s mind in some way beyond the mundane via artist books, comics, art books, magazines, small press publishers, used books, vintage magazines & more. The curator & artist behind this project is Orvokki Crosby. The Concern has a long-term outpost at Lump Gallery (505 S. Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop is Workshop Foundation’s exhibition and residency space in London. It supports a diverse range of emerging and mid-career contemporary artists by providing them with space and time to develop their practice, championing principles of integrity and rigour. Through its residency programmes and exhibitions, it gives artists, curators and theorists a platform to present work and share ideas as well as creating an environment for freethinking and exchange. The Foundation seeks to progress artists’ careers and connect them to the public. It has now organized more than 25 exhibitions with over 100 artists and curators. Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop was founded in 2015 by artist Stacie McCormick in a former builder’s merchant.

HIER & JETZT: Connections is an exchange and residency program for artists in exile. The initiative was launched in 2017 by artists of B.L.O. Ateliers in Berlin-Lichtenberg. We collaborate and exchange ideas on a collegial and informal basis and thus create a platform for art, learning and communication. We define exile as the involuntary loss of one’s social context and working environment in the country of origin for an uncertain period of time. Our structure supports the arrival and artistic production of those who recently came to Berlin. With help of our cross-cultural network we organize workshops, artist talks, film screenings, open studios and exhibitions – and sometimes we just have a coffee on the premises of B.L.O. Ateliers. We invite experts and the public to share new social footholds and artistic incentives with people from, among others, Syria, Iran, Iraq and Turkey.   Nieuwe Vide is an exhibition space for contemporary art. Nieuwe Vide also houses artist studios and a project space. We work with young and upcoming artists as well as more experienced artists. The studios are rented by visual artists and creatives. Nieuwe Vide works with these artists and creatives whenever possible. Nieuwe Vide, as such, is a launching pad for upcoming artists’ careers. The project space is used for (educational) workshops and gatherings. True to its squatters roots 20 years ago, Nieuwe Vide is socially engaged and operates on a community level. We offer a weekly soup lunch for artists and neighbourhood residents. Every year we offer an educational art trajectory for kids aged 14-18, called Nieuwe Vide Academy. We also have a film community, CineClub, with a focus on all kinds of film and film-discussion.  

Raw Art Foundation is an independent arts collective based in Frankfurt am Main for untrained, autodidactic artists, supporting collaborative creative processes. Studio 323 AtelierFrankfurt

  BRASHNAR CREATIVE PROJECT Skopje, non-profit association for contemporary interdisciplinary art and ecological development, aims to engage directly in the support and creation of an environment for contemporary artistic expression and the development of an ecologically sustainable community for the purpose of enriching and conserving Macedonian culture.
