2022 residency open-call at Elsewhere Studios

Elsewhere Studios is an eclectic, radical, experimental, whimsical, grass-roots, rural sci-fi, imaginative residency space in Paonia, Colorado that provides nourishment for the creative soul. 

Located in Paonia, CO, Elsewhere provides space and time for artists to create in a unique and supportive environment. We welcome visual artists, writers, composer/musicians, performance artists at any stage of their careers as well as scientists, activists, teachers, students, or any kind of creative thinker interested in exploring and expanding their work.  

Paonia is a small town nestled in a beautiful landscape of mountains and mesas covered with orchards, small ranches, and farms. It is about 1.5 hours from Grand Junction on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains. Paonia is a community of unique and creative individuals with a strong interest in sustainability. It was recently designated as a Certified Creative District by the state of Colorado.

Duration of residency

Time spans are individually based – 1 to 6 months.

We welcome visual artists, writers, composer/musicians, performance artists at any stage of their careers as well as scientists, activists, teachers, students, or any kind of creative thinker interested in exploring and expanding their work.

Accomodation

We offer Private rooms. All rooms and spaces in the main house have radiant in-floor heat. Some have private bath, some have shared bath. The Gingerbread House is a separate dwelling and is heated with a wood burning stove.
