Kingsbrae International Residence for the Arts (KIRA) will award eighteen artists with a one-month residency throughout the summertime in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, an idyllic seaside town on the east coast of Canada.

KIRA’s Artist in Residence Program was founded in order to support the local community and artists by providing space and time to take their creative practice to the next level and to explore their ideas within the context of the region, including Kingsbrae Garden, a 27-acre horticultural masterpiece located just steps away from the residence.

Applications are open to a range of disciplines and types of artists including, but not limited to, the visual arts, music/composition, new media and interdisciplinary arts. Artists from all levels in their career who exhibit a strong professional work ethic and a collaborative attitude are encouraged to apply.

Artists will be provided with a $1500 stipend, comfortable housing on a historic property, individual studio space and two meals a day. The residence is within walking distance of the downtown area. The residents are required to bring their own art supplies and materials needed for their creative process as these are limited in town.

As part of the residency, artists will be asked to engage with the community during weekly Open Studio Saturdays. During these events, weekly progress will be shared with the visiting public. A final exhibit and artist talk will be organized in the last residency weeks.

The application period for the summer 2020 program is October 16th 2019 to December 16th 2019. The one-month residency periods are in June, July and August. For more information and to apply, please visit www.kingsbraeartscentre.com/residencies.
