In a near future, a pizza delivery guy and his wife Feu Carthasis are in love and their story is passionate and full of rhythm and music. He used to be a sculptor and a DJ in a nightclub. She has been possessed by an old teacher of her, Fulcanelli the alchemist and since then has been lounging in fake palaces posing as operas. In this profoundly wild ghetto, marginal artists rub shoulders in rivalry. Their attempts to break off with their past grow tired and the pizza delivery guy run into a mutant, the new hope of contemporary art who scatters desire and dust upon the city.
Performative intrigues, artistic manipulations and transforming states mark L’opéra d’or, a polyphonic writing project starring the voice of ambitious marginal artists whose destiny is yet to be fulfilled. Choir and visual art, installation and sound which draws from the codes of catharsis, intrigue, choral book, epic music, expressionism and thriller tv shows.

Artists and performers, Geneviève Crépeau and Matthieu Dumont have been collaborating since the end of the nineties under the name Geneviève et Matthieu. Their work is the outcome of art meets performance, music and everyday life. As a play on interdisciplinarity, ranging from happening to music composition to performance and installation, this duo creates collective representation and stages social tableaux, sometimes festive, always human.
Geneviève Crépeau holds a bachelor degree in visual arts from Université du Québec (1997). Matthieu Dumont holds an interdisciplinary in visual creation form Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (2000). Their work concerns oscillate between Baroque, Abstract Expressionism and Arte Povera and they have shown work in Quebec, Canada, United States, France and Belgium. L’opéra d’or is an always evolving project and it was presented at the LIVE Vancouver Biennale (2017), the PERF event in Gatineau (2017) and the Montreal Actoral Biennale at Usine C (2018). Engaged in their community, Geneviève et Matthieu are also the coordinators of the artist-run-center l’Écart and the directors of the performance art Biennale in Rouyn-Noranda.
