THEME OF THE OPEN CALL:
Guns are a tool for power and oppression. They are a powerful weapon to dominate and subjugate, but they are also a symbol of the stereotypes and roles that structure our society.
GUNS FOR FUN is an invitation to critically rethink the role of guns and their symbolism, in order to subvert their meaning and significance. We want to see your take on the role that guns play in our society, and how they relate to the power relations that structure our world. We are looking for proposals that use their representation and rethink their use as well as their connection with strength and power, from the public sphere to the closest and most intimate spaces.
Submit your work for the opportunity of being part of a collective exhibition at FLIPA Art Gallery in Barcelona, Spain, in May 2022, and selling your work through an auction organized by RICE in partnership with Liveauctioneers.com. In addition, shortlisted artists will also be featured in the fourth edition of our online contemporary art magazine.
