Performance Voyage 7 (PV7), an international collection of video performances produced by Artists’ Association MUU, has been invited to participate in the programme of Berlin Art Week. The theme of Performance Voyage 7 is Protest Song Competition! The collection has already visited London, Dublin and Lima, and will continue its tour after Berlin. The tour takes the video collection to altogether 15 venues around the world.

The screening of the videos at Berlin Art Week in the Top Schillerpalais project space will also be attended by artists featured in the PV7 collection, including Kim Dotty Hachmann, Heidi Kilpeläinen, Timo Kokko, Arja Renell, Kikka Rytkönen and Elizabeth Wurst, as well as Berlin-based Finnish artist Mimosa Pale and her group, The Wandering Shocks. Free admission. www.facebook.com

Protest songs typically reflect great social changes. The videos featured in Performance Voyage 7 explore the political situation, frustration and the individual’s possibilities to promote social change, and they also present alternatives to existing circumstances. The collection contains works by 18 artists or groups from around the world.

The artists featured in the Performance Voyage 7 screening are Kuesti Fraun, Kim Dotty Hachmann & Steffi Simmen, Sasha Huber & Petri Saarikko, Heidi Kilpeläinen, Francois Knoetze, Timo Kokko, Paweł Korbus, Vik Laschenov, Elin Magnusson, Elena Mazzi, Iwona Ogrodzka, Ignacio Pérez Pérez, Arja Renell, Kikka Rytkönen, Julia Schicker, Jukka Silokunnas, Niko Skorpio, and Elizabeth Wurst.

The videos comprising Performance Voyage 7 were selected by a jury consisting of artist Heidi Kilpeläinen, Head of Arts & Culture, Finnish Institute in London Jaakko Nousiainen, and director of MUU Timo Soppela. The production of Performance Voyage 7 has been generously supported by the City of Helsinki Cultural Office.

The annual Berlin Art Week brings together interesting artists and artworks for the duration of the five-day festival. Held now for the sixth time, Berlin Art Week will present artworks all around the city from 13 to 17 September 2017. berlinartweek.de

Artists’ Association MUU has been organising Performance Voyage tours since 2011, when the first Performance Voyage event was staged as part of the Amorph! Festival produced by MUU. One of the key aims of the Performance Voyage series is to record and document ephemeral performances and thereby extend their lifespan. After Berlin, Performance Voyage 7 will be presented at the New Performance Turku Festival, Finland, in October.
