Kia Ora and hello 🙂 I totally mistook this post as the gallery section… so here we are with photos… enjoy(!) and I hope this doesn’t suddenly dominate your screen.. XCHC is an artist-run initiative started in 2014 to help revive the creative energy after a devastating earthquake in our city, Christchurch NZ. We’ve been considered an incubator, school of life, social/cultural experiment, and social enterprise amongst other things.. all have elements of truth and most still don’t understand wtf we are. Which is how we like it. This space has brought together thousands of people for connection and appreciation through showcase events, working in the makerspace/shared studios, staying/living here, and simply great coffee & beer. Our purpose is to Cultivate a Creative Ecology; a result that stems from mixing various levels of experience, creative practices and cultures to achieve 1 common interest; to grow. It was about 6 years in that we realized 1 space wasnt enough, and a collective formed to start taking over abandoned spaces around our city and creating private, immersive, and intentional nightlife events with other artists.. many who feel they don’t fit into the traditional art world.. probably for the best. Aviário Studio is a creative hub in central Portugal. The studios are located in an old renovated aviary, surrounded by nature (situated in an enchanted valley), 2 km away from the center of Ferreira do Zêzere. The building has a common room for meals, a small library, three toilets – one adapted to reduced mobility – and five workshops of 100 m2 each, equipped to work in various techniques and materials, namely: Ceramics Printmaking Silkscreen Wood Metal Prototyping Analog Photography Book Binding Lacquering Vinyl Cut Our range of action focuses on: – Research and production in Visual Arts, Design and Communication – Artist Residencies Programs – Courses and Workshops

Build in 2016 on a splendid rural location in Michoacan-state ,Mexico in a small place called Umecuaro a 35  minutes drive from Morelia city. It is the perfect place to create works of art. We are specialized in Stone Sculpture, Ceramics, Painting and Land-Art. We organize also Residencies for artists who want to use the studio’s facilities to create their art works and projects or who are invited to produce Land Art on selected sites. The studio has a painting and drawing space, a gallery ,a cabin for residents and visitors with an accommodation for up to 4 persons with a small kitchen and private toilet and shower, a separate ceramic studio with 2 gas kilns an experimental kiln and a site for stone sculpture. We organize exhibitions ,cultural events ,music concerts and much more.We have also a partnership with VAWAA , vacation with an artist ,in which we offer apprenticeships in Ceramics and Land-Art.We do our best to adjust ,help and advice our residents in any art project they want to create using our facilities.Prices depends on length of stay , material costs ,firing of the kilns , exhibition venues and for accommodation plans ,including meals or not…………etc etc […]

“Instytut avtomatyky” – an initiative group that works as an experimental creative laboratory, avoiding mimetic means of expression in the field of modern art, concentrates on the concepts of experience, the use of non-typical materials, interaction with space and with found objects (ready-made). “Instytut avtomatyky” was founded on July 20, 2020 by artists Maksym Mazur and Andriy Pidlisny with the aim of promoting the development of a local creative center that arose spontaneously in the building of the Kyiv Institute of Automation at 22 Nahirna Street. The priorities of the group are the creation of artistic events, exhibition projects and the formation of international collaboration of artists on the basis of common values ​​in art. “Instytut avtomatyky” works outside a single permanent exhibition space and uses the method of collective curation with the involvement of project participants.  

School of Commons (SoC) is a community-based initiative dedicated to the study and development of self-organized knowledge. We promote a broad, integrative understanding of knowledge, and focus on matters surrounding the production and mediation of knowledge with a focus on self-organized practices and knowledge decentralization. Located at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), the content and position of SoC is defined by our community rather than a predetermined program; research is conducted in our three labs (LEARN, MAPP, and READ), all of which are run as peer-based collaborative endeavours with annually changing members. Our labs bring together a wide range of participants, guests, and contributors who share their curiosity, skills, and visions. StoneZone: A meeting point for art professionals working with granite, or stone in general. StoneZone is located at the Westcoast of Sweden, in the centre of the Bohusgranite area. In the spring of 2010 two close friends and collegues in sculpture, Lukas Arons and Tom Flick, were able to purchase an old stone industry in the forrests of Bohuslän at the Swedish westcoast. Since than this neglected and abandoned place has been transformed into a living artspace with temporary exhibitions, artiststudio, stoneworkshop and blacksmithy. StoneZone’s dream to be able to open ‘artist in residence places’ for sculptors and possibly other disciplines will soon become a reality.

Ort Gallery is on a social mission to redefine contemporary visual arts by rejecting the sector’s exclusivity, centring access and equity, and by providing inclusive high quality art experiences. RAMA – Art Residency is located in a rural landscape in Maceira and Alfeiria villages, municipality of Torres Vedras, in the west part of Portugal. Aimed at research and experimentation by national and international artists, researchers and curators, it promotes the interaction between professionals and the crossing of artistic practices, the sharing of experiences and knowledge, and relationship with the local community, culture, crafts and traditional knowledge, and with the region’s history and landscape. Artistic Residency last from 1 to 4 months. Residency program with mentorship and studio visits are customized to each project in a specialized and immersive working environment, with accommodation and studio, or with studio space only, can host up to 4 artists simultaneously, in each Residency period. RAMA is located at about 40 minutes driving from Lisbon’s center and from the airport, between the municipalities of Torres Vedras, Sobral de Monte Agraço, Arruda dos Vinhos and Alenquer, and it is served by highways, public transport, post office, commerce and services.

History:  FORUM BOX is a non-profit artist-run gallery and a co-operative society, which was initiated in 1996 by sculptor Kain Tapper (1930–2004). Its main purpose is to maintain an art space in Helsinki and thus enrich and support the Finnish cultural life. Currently Forum Box co-op has more than 90 artist members, all of whom are prominent Finnish artists and actors in the field of contemporary art. The Forum Box building is owned by the city of Helsinki. Formerly a cold storage room, the space was renovated by the artists themselves in the years 1998–99. The renovation was designed by the architect and professor Juhani Pallasmaa. Forum Box was opened in June 1999 with an exhibition by Anthony Caro and Richard Serra organised together with Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art. Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence is an international art residency located near the comune of Sesto al Reghena in the north-eastern Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It’s a place for artistic production and research that focuses on the development of the creative process and facilitates cultural exchange across borders. History  Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence is located three kilometers from Sesto al Reghena, in the locality of “Banduzzo” (which in local dialect means “Place Banned”) and from the mid-nineteenth century has been an agricultural center of the Morassutti Family. The small Church of St. Anthony of Padua  In the garden of Art Aia – Creatives / In / Residence stands the nineteenth century Church of St. Anthony of Padua, erected by the owners of these lands and it contains the contemporary altar-piece which represents Saint John the Baptist and Saint Antony of Padua. Artistania is a non-profit organization which provides space and opportunities to encourage individuals with different cultural and social backgrounds to work together on artistic and socio-cultural projects. The association’s goal is to promote the idea that cultural differences can stimulate inspiration, creativity and mutual learning. Therefore Artistania creates possibilities to implement and present this idea through its projects.

FARM STUDIO ( International Artist Residency – India) FARM Studio International Artist Residency’s aim is to provide a rural, community-based open platform where creativity can unfold. Residents stay and create in a unique atmosphere and entirely new environment where they can develop their artwork free from accustomed distractions. Relationships form between the artists coming from different geographical locations and varied social, religious and cultural backgrounds. Here, collaborations and experimentation is encouraged. Many exciting exchanges and dialogues among artists take place. Farm Studio also promotes and celebrates the local community’s artistic and cultural identity while also introducing art and culture of others (Indian and International guests) back to the community. This intercultural exchange broadens everyone’s experiences and fosters art appreciation. Farm Studio International Artist Residency hosts artists from September to March each year, with accommodations available for up to 6-12 residents at one time. Artists of all disciplines creating in any media are welcome to apply: dance, theatre, music, sound, performance art, writing, painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, culinary, photography, video/film, animation, architecture, sculpture (any material), ceramics, mixed-media / multi-media, interdisciplinary, installation, and other new/alternative media. First Coat Studios is a not-for-profit creative-led outfit supporting new and engaging arts practices. We are guided by ethical principles, people and place and exist to make arts and culture more accessible and inclusive. FCS is a vital training ground for emerging and established practitioners that is focused on the production and exploration of new arts practices. Our core activities are exhibitions, workshops, residencies and events aim to generate discussion in contemporary art.

Saas-Fee Summer Institute of Art (SFSIA) is a nomadic, intensive summer academy with shifting programs in contemporary critical theory. SFSIA stresses an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the relationship between art and politics. The program consists of seminar-style lectures, deep readings, and workshops. An evening lecture program is free and open to the public. We encourage all genre of artists, film-makers, poets, philosophers, architects, critical theorists, and curators whose practice could use an invigorating jolt of new theory to consider applying for the program. SFSIA originated in Saas-Fee, Switzerland in 2015 and migrated to Berlin, Germany in 2016 where it is currently hosted by Spike. In 2019, an additional program will be hosted by Performance Space New York. The institute was founded by artist and theorist Warren Neidich. Sarrita Hunn is the artistic coordinator.

Gradient Projects is a contemporary art initiative based in Thomas, West Virginia. We are currently developing a project space at 218 East Avenue in order to host exhibitions, artists-in-residence, performances, concerts, films and other art-based experimentation.

  AADK Spain is an artist-run platform that develops spaces for research and contemporary creation. With a focus set on experimental processes, its primary interest is to explore the notions of body, territory, and spatiality. The platform advocates the decentralization of culture and access to contemporary art in non-urban areas. It addresses local issues as means to understand global problems. Currently based in Centro Negra (Blanca, Murcia) it holds several programs among which its Artist Residency and Cruce Programs stand out. As a team, we believe that all artists we host are an active part of our platform. Therefore, we foster networks with other cultural and artistic enterprises, helping to promote their mobility on national and international circuits.
