Pscheuench (phonetic transcription of polish translation of mountain pass) is a pop up art residency that take place once a year in Polish Tatra Mountains in Zakopane.

duration: one month between August and September.

The residency will take place in an old house right in the center of Zakopane. We provide simple rooms and space to work. ( shared studio with silkscreen equipment)
At the end of the residency an exhibition will be organised, even if we do not expect your work to be fully completed. It is enough to see work in progress inspired by the place. The aim is to create a temporary artist community and get inspired by the environment of Tatra mountains.
The founders of pscheuench and the invited curators will take part in the selection process. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a skype interview.

Zakopane is situated in a beautiful region of Tatra Mountains. In XXth century it was the heart of Polish bohemian art environment, however nowadays it has become a highly touristic spot and changed its atmosphere into a consumer driven town. This residency aims at recreating an artistic dynamics in Zakopane. Inviting international artist to work and focus on the environment of Zakopane and its nowadays issues should enrich the new cultural vibe, which would take into account the transformation the town has gone through.
