Residency

The Nest Art Residency welcomes artists, writers, curators, cultural managers, and art reseachers, providing them with the opportunity to live and work in Yerevan while developing individual projects and immersing themselves in Armenia’s creative sphere. Since its opening in 2013, Nest has hosted over thirty residents (from Austria, UK, Italy, Russia, France, USA, Turkey, Finland, Germany, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Ukraine, Canada, and Spain) who contributed to create a vital connection between the Armenian cultural scene and the international artistic community. Located in an elegant villa within ICA Yerevan, Nest Art Residency provides each resident with full accommodation and working space. ICA Yerevan also houses a library, two auditoriums, a full-equipped kitchen and a garden, all of which are at the disposal of the residents.The residency space includes two private bedrooms, two art studios, a shared kitchen, a shared bathroom, and a garden. Moreover, the ICA-run Curatorial School, Research and Project Labs provide a comprehensive set of resources, facilities and tools for residents to better connect with the Armenian contemporary art scene.   Kunstverein Familie Montez e. V. is an official art association/artspace/collective which exhibits contemporary independent art, based in Frankfurt am Main. Founded in 2007 by Mirek Macke and Anja Czioska at the Städelhofes, the „Lola Montez“ , has had at times a nomadic existence, but always a fixture of the Frankfurt independent off space scene, it now resides (since 2014) under the Honsellbrücke, in two newly renovated arches of the bridge, directly on the River Main and Osthafen. Kunstverein Familie Montez organizes group and solo shows, talks, book presentations, performances, film screenings, summer schools and music events, and since summer 2018 houses a Hermann Nitsch Archive plus documentation of Contemporary Performance artists that have been invited to the Micro Residency programme.  

  BRASHNAR CREATIVE PROJECT Skopje, non-profit association for contemporary interdisciplinary art and ecological development, aims to engage directly in the support and creation of an environment for contemporary artistic expression and the development of an ecologically sustainable community for the purpose of enriching and conserving Macedonian culture. Modern Clay is a studio project run by Mark Essen it provides a studio facility for the production of ceramics. It is accessible for artists and encouraged that the studio is available to be used by local community groups, artist educational projects and charitable groups. The studio is a resource for artists to produce their own work while developing a new programme of artistic opportunities for West Midlands artists. KuBa: kulturbahnhof is an independent non-profit art project. With our Artist in Residence program, we want to create a specific space for inspiration, dialogue and cooperation, open to the challenges of our time. KuBa: kulturbahnhof is located on the site of a former train station in the town of Klein Warnow (Brandenburg), on the Berlin-Hamburg railway. The residency program offers artists, writers and cultural scientists a place to work, create and experiment. The interaction with this unique location is an essential element of the project. The artistic directors of KuBa: kulturbahnhof are Sharon Horodi and Cheb Mika Kammerer. The two are artists, active in the field of video, photography, performance-art and creative writing. ART RESIDENCY & EDUCATION FOR ARTISTS Snehta is a non-for-profit organisation that promotes and facilitates local and international artists through its residency, exhibitions and educational programmes in Kypseli, Athens. For the residency artists are selected through an open call who then spend two months researching in Athens under the guidance of the residency team and an established Athens based curator. Snehta also organizes a series of exhibitions and talks in response to topics that critically engage with Athens’ unique identity as a historical and social center. Alongside its art residency Snehta offers burgeoning educational programmes offering professional mentoring and technical knowledge to emerging artists who want to excel in their artistic practice.   Zaratan – Arte Contemporânea is a not-for-profit space and an organization founded by artists in Lisbon city center in November 2014. Zaratan is a creation, production and promotion structure for contemporary art and a space of reflection and listening. In order to stimulate creativity and contribute to generate valid cultural processes, Zaratan has developed so far a heterogeneous and mostly free of charge agenda of events, that parallel to the regular schedule of exhibitions, presents video-projections, concerts, talks by artists, presentations and performances. Zaratan defends an interdisciplinary attitude and aims to promote a deeper comprehension of the artistic languages of the present with an independent structure.  

  During the year Voltage is a studio space for artists from different disciplines (Painting/ Street Art/ Photography/ Music). With external curators we organize group exhibitions, artists talks and workshops. Being inspired by different subcultures we still believe in D.I.Y. We have also a press for publishing unique selfmade artist books.  

We offer a professional workshop specializing in intaglio printmaking. We are inviting printmakers and visual artists (also artists of another disciplines like writers and poets) to our residency. GlogauAIR GlogauAIR is an art space and residency in a historic building in Kreuzberg open to new ideas and interchange GlogauAIR is a non-profit organization founded in 2006 by the artist Chema Alvargonzález with the intention to create a meeting point between artists from all disciplines to work in collaboration, expanding their practice in terms of materials, formats and style. Residency GlogauAIR offers the use of a studio space in a superb location in Berlin. There are 13 studios distributed over 3 floors. Artists from all over the world and in almost any discipline stay at GlogauAIR for three or six months to develop their artistic project.   Belgrade AIR is a program as part of the Center424 nonprofit artist-run organization that supports artists, curators and martial artists via one-week to three-month residencies in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Residency programs aim to foster cultural exchange between artists from different disciplines, create a dialogue and encourage possible collaboration. Visits to art galleries, museums and artists’ studios will be arranged to facilitate the interaction of international and local art practitioners. BAIR was founded in 2012, and has since hosted various artists from all over the world. Moreover, the program established artist residencies and exchange programs in Konstepidemin, Gothenburg, Sweden, and also with Homesession in Barcelona, Spain.  

  GAP Is a membership based international collaborative of Mixed-media Artists whose active participants number 53 members working in 12 countries, depending on the project. Having roots initially in web based activity beginning in 2012 (post card and correspondence art projects such as KNEE(jerk) Fragmentation Project). GLOBAL ART PROJECT has generated numerous workshops, exhibitions and collaborative studio experiences in Venice, Lecce and Treviso Italy, Mazatlan, Mexico, Dakar, Senegal, Ghent, Belgium, The Netherlands, North Carolina, New York, Minneapolis, MN, San Francisco, Mill Valley, Benicia, Sausalito and Novato, California. ComPeung is not only the 1st independent AiR program in Thailand, but also the longest ongoing program since 2007. We have hosted over 100 artists in a wide variety of disciplines from around the world. Hidden behind a line of teak trees near public ponds, the ComPeung site began as just a piece of empty farmland without any facilities. Now after over 10 years of sculpting this micro community from scratch–planting all the trees, bringing in the road, water, and electricity, and building the houses–with the help of resident artists, our friends and family ComPeung has become a peaceful garden oasis. As an evolving art project, ComPeung encourages artists to explore and discover – not only new ideas, techniques, and networks, but also themselves as human beings though the process of creative activities and everyday living. Greylight Projects is an independent artist run organization based in Brussels (BE) and in Hoensbroek (NL). It has been created in 2009 in Hoensbroek, and a space was opened in Brussels in 2013. Greylight Projects focuses on supporting artists in their researches and practices by facilitating, producing, or organizing events. In Hoensbroek (NL), a suburb of Heerlen in the south of The Netherlands, Greylight Projects offers a place to live and work to selected artists for short, mid or long term residencies. In parallel, every few months an artist is invited for a (site-)specific presentation in the project-space: a large scale display in the storefront and 3 flags poles in front of the former city hall of Hoensbroek, visible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from public space.
