KuBa: kulturbahnhof is an independent non-profit art project. With our Artist in Residence program, we want to create a specific space for inspiration, dialogue and cooperation, open to the challenges of our time. KuBa: kulturbahnhof is located on the site of a former train station in the town of Klein Warnow (Brandenburg), on the Berlin-Hamburg railway. The residency program offers artists, writers and cultural scientists a place to work, create and experiment. The interaction with this unique location is an essential element of the project. The artistic directors of KuBa: kulturbahnhof are Sharon Horodi and Cheb Mika Kammerer. The two are artists, active in the field of video, photography, performance-art and creative writing. Both have many years of experience in curating exhibitions and artistic events, community based art projects and transcultural exchange programs. Vision: A train station is a space comprised of motion and of emotions, arrivals and farewells, a place of joy and longing. Like art, the station forms the thin line between the private and public spheres. Our vision is to create within this space a place that inspires one’s own work, and invites artists to interact with one another and the place itself. KuBa – Art […]

ART RESIDENCY & EDUCATION FOR ARTISTS Snehta is a non-for-profit organisation that promotes and facilitates local and international artists through its residency, exhibitions and educational programmes in Kypseli, Athens. For the residency artists are selected through an open call who then spend two months researching in Athens under the guidance of the residency team and an established Athens based curator. Snehta also organizes a series of exhibitions and talks in response to topics that critically engage with Athens’ unique identity as a historical and social center. Alongside its art residency Snehta offers burgeoning educational programmes offering professional mentoring and technical knowledge to emerging artists who want to excel in their artistic practice. The programme is staffed by established Athens based artists with a strong and living artistic practice. SNEHTA – ATHENS IN REVERSE Snehta stands for the name of the City of Athens written in reverse. This name metaphorically suggests that the artists involved are to rediscover Athens by reading and translating it alternatively, observing and using the City’s local, social and cultural dynamics. Our work ethos is to reinforce participating artists to bring a renewed awareness of Athens through the works produced, exhibitions and events. These should relate to and critically stimulate Hellenic, inter-European […]

ComPeung is not only the 1st independent AiR program in Thailand, but also the longest ongoing program since 2007. We have hosted over 100 artists in a wide variety of disciplines from around the world. Hidden behind a line of teak trees near public ponds, the ComPeung site began as just a piece of empty farmland without any facilities. Now after over 10 years of sculpting this micro community from scratch–planting all the trees, bringing in the road, water, and electricity, and building the houses–with the help of resident artists, our friends and family ComPeung has become a peaceful garden oasis. As an evolving art project, ComPeung encourages artists to explore and discover – not only new ideas, techniques, and networks, but also themselves as human beings though the process of creative activities and everyday living. ComPeung aims to be an open space for dialogues, encouraging the exchange of ideas and experiments, and exploring the interdependence between art, artists and society. For artists who need time away from regular commitments to finish current projects, to reflect on their practice, or to explore and develop new works, ComPeung is the ideal place to do so. In an unregimented and relaxed atmosphere, artists have the freedom to focus […]

In Brussels (BE), Greylight Projects is situated in the north part of the town, close to Botanique in the municipality of Sint-Joost-ten-Node. Kia Ora and hello 🙂 I totally mistook this post as the gallery section… so here we are with photos… enjoy(!) and I hope this doesn’t suddenly dominate your screen.. XCHC is an artist-run initiative started in 2014 to help revive the creative energy after a devastating earthquake in our city, Christchurch NZ. We’ve been considered an incubator, school of life, social/cultural experiment, and social enterprise amongst other things.. all have elements of truth and most still don’t understand wtf we are. Which is how we like it. This space has brought together thousands of people for connection and appreciation through showcase events, working in the makerspace/shared studios, staying/living here, and simply great coffee & beer. Our purpose is to Cultivate a Creative Ecology; a result that stems from mixing various levels of experience, creative practices and cultures to achieve 1 common interest; to grow. It was about 6 years in that we realized 1 space wasnt enough, and a collective formed to start taking over abandoned spaces around our city and creating private, immersive, and intentional nightlife events with other artists.. many who feel they don’t fit into the traditional art world.. probably for the best. Our work extends […]
